it’s a beautiful thing- the footprints that people can leave in your heart.

waitressing certainly has its stressful days, but it’s people like these that remind me why I love my job. when I used to work in Connecticut, John was a regular who came in every week. sometimes he would bring friends, but most of the time he would come in by himself. him and his walker. he would get the same thing every time, the usual soup and salad. I took care of him for a year every time he came in to eat, before I moved back to Massachusetts. before I left, he said that he would come visit- it was a nice thought and I welcomed it. he was very old, so I understood the circumstances. the thought was nice enough. sometimes, I would get texts from my CT friends saying that John came in today, and he always talks about me. it melts my heart. well after almost a year of being back home, John called my restaurant a week ago and asked my manager when I was working. and last night, there he was, him and his walker, strolling into my restaurant in Massachusetts. two and half hours from home. it was the nicest thing I could ever imagine anyone to do for me..
